ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1201PN Netbook

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1201PN Netbook – superior performing multi-tasking netbook

Almost all of the best travel netbooks on the market have about the same performance level meaning they are all good for basic tasks like word processing and browsing the web, but not the best for multitasking.

The Asus Eee Seashell 1201PN takes netbooks to the next level by incorporating a dual-core processor similar to the processor found in mini-desktop machines allowing the 1201PM to succeed at multi-tasking unlike any other netbook on the market.  This increase in performance does not come without costs though, the Asus 1201N gets only about half of the battery life as other netbook models.

The Eee PC 1201PN’s 12.1-inch HD widescreen is huge as far as netbooks go so the computer resembles more of an ultra portable laptop than a normal netbook.  The keyboard is full-length and the multi-touch trackpack lets you easily zoom in and out by moving your two fingers together or apart.

The 1201PN has the three typical USB ports for connecting your flash drive or mp3 player and also has a SD card reader to quickly and easily upload photos from your digital camera.  The netbook comes with a 250GB hard drive and an additional 500GB of complementary web storage making it easy to backup your files on the go.

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 8 out of 10
A great choice if you’re looking for a high performing, ultra portable computer with stellar graphics.  Personally I would take a cheaper, simpler netbook with twice the battery life like the Toshiba Mini NB305 or Dell Mini 1012, but it all has to do with the level of performance you desire.
