Thule Ridgeline 4-Bike Hitch Rack

Thule Ridgeline 4-Bike Hitch Rack – ultimate hitch bike rack with all the features

When looking for a bike rack you basically have three choices, either a trunk rack, hitch rack, or roof rack.  Hitch racks are great if you need to carry from two to five bikes and prefer easy loading and access to your bikes.  Hitch racks are generally easy to install and easy to load.

You of course need a hitch to install a hitch rack and hitch bike racks come in sizes and styles to match the hitch size of your vehicle.  The Thule Ridgeline 4-Bike Hitch Rack is the mother of all hitch racks and holds up to 4 bikes securely with every sort of feature imaginable.

The Thule Ridgeline holds bikes securely with a cradle locking mechanism and Thule’s patented No Sway Cage prevents any bike-to-bike contact.  The rack comes with locks for both the rack and the bikes themselves so you don’t have to worry about getting either swiped when away from your car.

A design feature that sets the Ridgeline apart from the rest is Thule’s clever tilt-down design, the carrier folds away from the vehicle so you can access your trunk or hatch.

The quick & dirty:

Why they rock:

  • T3 cradles holds up to 4 bikes in place for maximum protection
  • No-Sway Cage prevents bike-to-bike contact
  • Tilt-down design provides easy access to rear of vehicle
  • Integrated locking cable stores conveniently in hitch rack
  • High-strength steel construction

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 10 out of 10

If you’re looking for an easy to use hitch rack with all the features there isn’t any better than the Thule Ridgeline 4-Bike Hitch.  Hitch racks are not the best option if you plan on doing a lot of dirt road driving though – the bikes just bounce around a bit too much and rocks can get kicked up and ding the heck out of your bike and easily puncture your tire.

Don’t have a hitch but still want the ease of back of car loading?  Check out the Yakima KingJoe 3-Bike Carrier that attaches to the trunk of your car.
