Serengeti Polar PhD Sunglasses

rsz_p1070385Serengeti Polar PhD Sunglasses—polarized sunglasses perfect for those bluebird days on the slopes.

Skiing in a state with more than 300 days of sun a year makes having a good pair of polarized sunglasses to rock on those bluebird days a near essential. Having a pair of polarized sunglasses that continuously adjust to the light conditions and look great like the Serengeti Polar PhD sunglasses is a bonus.

Made possible by a unique, new manufacturing process, Serengeti’s new Polar PhD lenses represent a significant step forward in sunglass technology and functionality. A material developed for military applications, NXT®, the polarizing layer of the Serengeti Polar PhD lens is engineered directly onto the back surface of the lens using Advanced Polarized Surface Technology™. This proprietary process delivers up to 98% polarizing efficiency and removes any possibility of delaminating, a disadvantage of conventional film-based polarized lens construction.

I tested these shades out yesterday on a blue ski day in the Rocky Mountains. They worked magnificently. Though it was too cold to rock sunglasses on the mountain, having a good pair of shades for the drive up was an essential.

The lenses have surprising clarity and help reduce the glare of that bright Colorado sunshine reflecting off the freshly fallen snow. In addition to providing excellent clarity on a bright day, the lenses also continuously adjust to changing light conditions. Engineered into the lens at the molecular level, the photochromic properties will never wear out.

In addition, the frames are super lightweight, stylish and durable. Dani LaGace, Director of Eyewear Product and Marketing said, “With Polar PhD, there’s no longer any need to compromise maximum photochromic polarizing efficiency to get lightweight, precision optics with superior durability and impact resistance.”
