Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 Waterproof Digital Camera

Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 Digital Camera – waterproof, freezeproof, and shockproof adventure camera

Olympus Stylus Tough 6020

Typically electronics and water don’t mix well but the Olympus Stylus digital cameras are designed with an innovative system of waterproof seals and gaskets to keep water out. Waterproof digital cameras are great for wet vacations since you don’t have to worry about your camera fizzling out when it gets splashed or dropped off the side of a boat and you can even take photos as deep as 16 feet underwater.

Not only is the Stylus 6020 waterproof, but also it is also freeze and shockproof too. The Stylus is winterized to perform below freezing temperature making it great for taking ski and snowboard shots. The rugged metal outer is also built to withstand a beating and can handle a 5-foot fall without a problem.

Sure the Stylus Tough-6020 was designed to handle whatever your action packed life can dish out but how does the photo quality measure up? The Stylus was designed with action in mind and its Dual Image Stabilization compensates for any camera shake (like when you are rafting down the river or standing just feet from a bear) to keep your shots steady, while high ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speeds capture clean images when your subject is in motion (running, rafting, sky diving, you name it).

The camera also features 29 different shooting modes from landscape and night scene to fireworks and cuisine and an In-Camera Panorama function builds awesome panoramic shots from three images. If you are hard on electronics and lead an action packed life this camera is for you.

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 9 out of 10
After reviewing the Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 I am seriously considering purchasing one myself. I have gone through three digital cameras in the last 5 years and decided that I really needed a camera with “Tough” in its name. My barely year old Sony Powershot died last month after drink powder ripped open in my bag during my first ultramarathon and the one before that puked at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I am headed to Hawaii next month and really need a reliable and durable camera. I would also be stoked to try out some underwater shots – I just hope I don’t drop it off the Na Pali Cliffs because that seems like the only thing this camera wouldn’t survive.  Looking for an even more durable digital camera?  The Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 is even tougher than the 6020!
