Metolius created the Safe Tech Deluxe Improved Harness for climbers that need plenty of reassurance that they are safe while they are hanging out over a ledge hundreds of feet off the ground.
Safety is engineered into every piece of this harness. Each component (gear loops, haul loops, leg loops, and belay loops) has been built to withstand a load of 2250 lbf and error-proof buckles reduce basic mistakes. The waistbelt shows a color pattern change when correctly double backed while the waist buckle shows “DANGER” if not correctly double backed.
The patented Metolius 3-D system adjusts both rise length and leg size to keep your upright during a fall. So far the Metolius system is the only harness in the world that has an adjustable rise. Rise determines how much of a fall is taken by your waist belt vs. your leg loops. If this distance between the waist belt and leg loops is too short you could get flipped upside down in a fall. If it is too long, the waist belt takes the brunt of the fall and that can be quite painful. If the rise is adjusted perfectly, your falls should be safe and comfortable.
Four gear loops provide plenty of room for your draws and multi-pitch belays and rappels are incredibly easier with the dual belay loops.

I love that this harness has so many safety features on it – you just can’t be safe enough when it comes to rock climbing. Although the Metolius Safe Tech Deluxe has all sorts of added safety features it doesn’t feel bulky and cumbersome.
