Manmade Rivers, Who Knew There Was Such a Thing

Who knew you could build a river. That is exactly what you’ll find at the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Where once was nothing, but trees and power lines, there is now a multi-million dollar, man-made whitewater river.

The whitewater river is setup to provide three separate and distinct runs. From the class one beginner section, to the class four competition section, there’s something for everyone. The river is a great place to start an adventure into all things whitewater. While the course is undoubtedly impressive, season rafters may be left disappointed by the ride.

Afraid of the water? Have no fear. At the whitewater center you’ll find miles of mountain biking trails, walking trails, rock climbing, bouldering, and even a high ropes course. It seems like the National Whitewater Center should have been a little more creative with their name.

Don’t tell them I said that though, I might loose my job! Feel free to come visit me during the summer, I’ll make sure to show you a good time! Need a place to stay? Check out CouchSurfing.

Have you ever been to the Whitewater Center? What did you think?
