Eureka’s Silver City +30 Degree Sleeping Bag is super light and compressible and a good value for the money. Weighing in at just over 2 pounds, the Silver City is a good backpacking sleeping bag. The classic mummy shape offers a fully adjustable hood and a trapezoidal foot box for greater foot room plus it is available in long for taller peeps or if you just like a roomier bag.
The bag is rated to +30 degrees and you should be comfortable down to that temp as long as you sleep in a good base layer. Our tester found the bag to be perfect in the 45 to 50-degree range. The shell is made from a durable 210T polyester diamond ripstop material so it should hold up to a fair amount of use.
Best thing about the bag is that it packs down super small in its included compression sack. Simply stuff the sleeping bag into the stuff sack and yank down on the compression straps and you could easily fit two of these babies into your pack’s sleeping bag compartment. Our tester also liked the internal pocket – it’s a great place to stash your iPod so you can listen to some tunes while you drift off without having to worry about rolling over it in the middle of the night.
