5 Bike Accessories for the Urban Commuter

By Daved Brosche | 2 Comments »

I mentioned earlier this week that I was going to give up driving my truck as much as possible. Its not that the thing gets bad gas mileage (its a small 4 cylinder pickup), but Im tired of paying for gas. Since I live in the metro Atlanta area I figured a bike would be a good investment. Most of the locations I visit for daily errands are all within biking and walking distance so I decided to start looking into bikes. Since I will be using the bike for commuting and errands, I decided the bike needed a few accessories to make it more useful around town. Below are a few of my recommendations of accessories for commuter bikers.

Ipevo USB Speakerphone for Skype

By Roger | Add a Comment »

Ipevo speakerphone
The Ipevo USB speakerphone is a solid piece of hardware that does what it promises, so anyone looking for a USB speakerphone should definitely consider this one. It works well right out of the box, without having to install the software or doing any configuring, so it should appeal to tech types who don’t like to bother reading manuals and installing drivers.

The quick and dirty

Where you can get it:
Amazon – currently for $77.79
Ipevo - currently for $79.99

The longer version

As more people and companies use Skype and other VOIP services for their communications, a good USB speakerphone that works with these systems should be a popular tool. The Ipevo USB speakerphone that we put to the test does exactly what it’s supposed to, with very little hassle in setting it up, which also scores points with the crowd that feels that reading manuals is beneath them. 500,000 GB MP3 Player

By Daved Brosche | Add a Comment »

When I got my 30 gig video iPod a few years back, I thought to myself, how in the world will I ever fill this up? To me a 60 gig pennyipod_250-794804.jpgiPod was just absurd. Short of filling it up with movies, I have no idea how anyone can own that much music. Now, granted Im not a huge music kind of guy, I still have my fair share of music, videos, podcasts, and movie on my 30 gig iPod and still have a good bit of room left on it. Recently a article on Digital Trends was published about the possibility of a 500,000 gig mp3 player.

All I have to say to that is; What the hell for?

Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Pants

Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Pants -
218guwap2il_aa280_.jpg
I would have to say that a good pair of rain pants are just as important as a good rain jacket. As with most outdoor products, you get what you pay for. Don’t spend much on a pair of rain pants and you will get a pair that don’t last long, rip easy, are uncomfortable, super hot, and will only keep you mildly dry. Fork over a $100 or more and you should get some worth every penny. The Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Pants are over the hundred dollar mark, but well worth the extra change.

Ipevo St4rt Universal Handset

By Roger | 1 Comment »

Ipevo startThe Ipevo St4rt handset is an extremely simple device, with a very tempting price. It’s probably not the best choice as a main VOIP headset for any hardcore user, and certainly not even worth considering for a gamer, but if you are looking for something that does what this does and not much else, this seems ideal.

Where to get it: Amazon.com for $14.18 currently

The longer version

Most people who are using VOIP services such as Skype instead of a traditional phone are opting for either a normal audio headset & microphone combination, or a similar USB headset. For longer conversations or any kind of gaming you’d probably want to go that route, but if you just want to make a few quick phone calls this St4rt Universal Handset could be ideal. It’s literally about as small as you’d want it to be, and it fits in the hand nicely with a feeling of quality. Read the rest of this entry
