Olympus has certainly made a name for its self in the waterproof digital camera world. They have easily created some of the best waterproof digital cameras out there. It all started their still popular Olympus Stylus 720, but currently the buzz is all about their newest camera, the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera. This tough little guy is supposed to be their most indestructible camera to date. No matter what sort of sport you partake in or what sort of crashes it involves, odds are the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera can handle it without a problem.
Lets start of by talking about just tough the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera is and what it can handle. As far as waterproofing goes, the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera can handle depths of up to 33ft. For those of you who are more concerned with how bad of a beating it can take, you will be happy to know that the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera is shockproof to 6.6 feet and crushproof to an outstanding 220 pounds. All things considered, those are some pretty amazing stats when it comes a point and shoot digital camera.
Obviously if the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera is constructed to be a tough camera, one can only assume that it will be used in a variety of settings that are far from normal. For example, it is much more likely that you will be taking pictures with the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera while rafting than of your mom standing in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. Thus, the Stylus Tough-8000 Digital Camera has been designed with action packed features like a dual image stabilizer to help get you clear shots even while in heavy action.
The quick & dirty:

So I had the lower model of this camera, lasted about 2 years total. After 1 year the lense cracked a bit, but was fine, still worked fine, Olympus would not replace my camera however… or do anything about my lense. It’s been 2 years and the actual lense cover decided it wont open any more. Which Olympus won’t help me with either. I loved the camera for the 2 years I had it, but the pictures don’t have the best color and I spent 300 on something that lasted only 2 years, which was a bummer. It was under water and through mud though a few times and did great!

I had there 770sw and 1050sw, both dead. Seals constantly leaking. Olympus wants $29 to maintain and swap seals out each year. Clearly product defects that Olympus wont live up to. My advise, dont waste the money.
