Salomon Gun Boot

salomongun.jpgSalomon Gun Boot–A racer boot made for the backcountry

As a former ski racer and current powder and backcountry lover, the Salomon Gun boot has managed to strike the perfect balance between being a boot that can handle speed and deep powder all at once. Taking Salomon’s race technology and tweaking it so it works well for backcountry skiing, the Salomon gun has a precise power transmission with an amazingly comfortable fit. Designed specifically for freeriding, freestyle skiing and backcountry, the 95-flex boot allows for amazing flexibility, while staying light and staying strong.

Salomon uses a “spaceframe” design, which uses different thickness of shell material throughout the boot, employing higher densities where its needed at crucial strength points and less material where it isn’t needed. This makes the boot both incredibly strong and very lightweight (and I guarantee you want a light boot when trying to make that hike to drop into an untracked bowl). This same spaceframe construction also makes this boot extremely responsive, giving the rider precise control as you bomb down the slopes. The shock-absorbing sole also makes it great for hitting the park or hitting big air off backcountry cliffs. The Salomon Gun also has a thermo-moldable liner (which is a huge plus) and buckles make for a great customizable fit across your instep. All this adds up for a seamless integration between your foot and boot. Basically, this is a great boot for those who like to launch backcountry assaults or hit the park. It’s a more responsive, more comfortable, lighter and perfect backcountry race boot—the best of both worlds.
