Litebook Charge n’ Go

Litebook Charge n GoThe Litebook Charge n’ Go may be exactly what you’re needing to cope with travel to the Caribbean during the rainy season. While it won’t give you a tan, it may lift your spirits and be a faithful companion while huddled in a hurricane shelter.

Helpful for people suffering from “seasonal affective disorder” in various stages from “the blues” to “contemplating suicide” the Litebook could be a life-saver, with possible blindness as only a minor side effect.

Here’s a nifty little video (5:43 long) to help you understand the benefits.

However, the instructions say to place the Litebook between 12″ and 24″ from your face at a 30 to 45 degree angle and point the light beam at your eyes. Even the manufacturer claims that you should not look directly at it, and that the light source is extremely bright but it is not harmful to glance at it occasionally. Here’s the gotcha: keep your eyes open or it won’t provide the “benefit you seek.” On second thought, this may be something better left at home after all.

Mika,

Thanks for your time today; further to our conversation, please consider this a formal request to correct a misstatement regarding our product which appeared on your blog entry of September 10, 2006:

Helpful for people suffering from “seasonal affective disorder” in various stages from “the blues” to “contemplating suicide” the Litebook could be a life-saver, with possible blindness as only a minor side effect.

The Litebook has been extensively tested for ocular safety by a leading medical physicist in the U.S., and as such does not pose any hazard for blindness. Thus, the statement in your blog (highlighted above in red) is false and misleading, and potentially actionable for libel. Therefore, I am requesting that you immediately a) delete this misstatement from your blog, and b) issue a statement on your blog correcting the misinformation.

As I said during our conversation, while we appreciate the exposure you are providing our product, false information will not serve anybody’s interest – consumer or manufacturer, a point which I’m sure you can appreciate.

Thank you for your cooperation with the above request.

Regards,

Larry

The above comment was posted by me, to allow the Manufacturer to express their opinion. Here’s the requested retraction:

Hi Mika,

Thanks for posting Larry’s comment as well as the retraction. As you may or may not know, light therapy is a growing science providing tremendous benefits to thousdans of people and is truly a most natural solution to several maladies that have traditionally been treated with drugs, an invasive solution with mant undesirable side affects that is becoming less and less acceptable to many of us.

At the Litebook Company we have chosen the expensive but ethical path to delivering light therapy solutions and as such we have invested haevily in clinical studies and research to ensure we provide proven, ethical information to those seeking answers to their questions in this field.

Our competitors have not chosen this path. They build their websites based on marketing and many will say whatever they think is required to make the sale. None of them would publish the warning information we publish even though much of this information is simply common sense.

Our product replicates sunlight and, when used properly, can provide the same benefits. Obviously no one would be dumb enough to sit outside and stare directly at the sun for any length of time and we suggest you do not do that with our proudct either.

Most people would naturally understand this but we provide this warning in our instructions for those people who require a little more clarification than most.

Our competitors would let folks figure this out for themselves.

So for those who can afford to get away to the Caribbean for extended periods each winter, have a great time, but if you can not, and you could use that boost of energy each morning, consider a Litebook, an ethical product that is clinically proven to work.

Thanks Mika,

Terry M. Cook
