Gregory Baltoro 70 Pack

gregory.jpgGregory Baltoro 70 Pack – The Cadillac of backpacks.

With so much room and such a comfortable fit, theres no exaggeration in saying that the Gregory Baltoro 70 Pack is the Cadillac of backpacks. We aren’t the only ones who think so. Backpacker magazine says that, “The Gregory Baltoro 70 Pack makes carrying 50 pounds downright feathery.” Which is probably why it won Editors Choice in 2008 by Backpacker Magazine.

Part of what makes the Gregory Baltoro 70 Pack so awesome is its updated design. The new design features a pivoting suspension system, giving that classically smooth ride. The new, Response Active Fit Suspension, pivots to self-adjust its waist belt to your hip angle. This results in a perfectly positioned pack no matter what your stance and gives you optimal suspension.

The Gregory Baltoro 70 Pack is designed to carry heavy loads, but it won’t feel odd once your load starts to lighten. The Gregory Baltoro 70 Pack has a number of cross over compression straps and side stiffening panels. These features allow you to create universal compression over a wide area of the pack, which lets you stabilize partially loaded packs.

The quick & dirty:

Why they rock:

  • Design offers three ways to get at your gear with top-loading, front zip and bottom zippered access to the main compartment
  • Hydration-compatible design features a reservoir sleeve and dual drink-tube exit ports for on-the-go hydration (reservoir sold separately)
  • 3-D precurved waistbelt and harness use dual-density foams laminated to the surface fabric, resulting in cushioning without pinching or binding
  • A molded composite framesheet with an integrated single 7001-T6 aluminum stay helps support heavy loads
  • Features side stretch pockets, dual waistbelt pockets and a hide-away water bottle pocket and stash pocket
  • Top lid pocket lets you keep compass, maps, small essentials or raingear close at hand
  • Large capacity front pocket has a water-resistant zipper
  • Rubberlike thermoplastic elastomer covers the bottom of the pack to provide long-lasting wear and waterproof protection from the elements

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 8 out of 10

I’m not into carrying large amounts of gear, but if you’re one of those people who carries everything and the kitchen sink, why not check out the Gregory Baltoro 70 Pack? Might as well make that sink at least feel light.
